We will be showing an array of different movies, there will be cookie decorating and colouring pages for kids along with a concession filled with baked goods and hot chocolate. The entrance fee of five dollars will be going to The Beaumont Nisku Christmas Elves to help local families this holiday season.

A huge thank you and congratulations to all of the girls who participated in the University of Alberta volleyball tournament this past weekend. We played very competitive city teams finishing first in our pool, placing us in the higher tier and battled hard, narrowly missing the gold but receiving a well-earned silver for the tournament. Huge congrats goes out to our track team.  They did amazing yesterday.  We have about 30 kids that have qualified for zones, in about 50 events!!  The next closest school only had 13 kids qualify!

Today is the deadline for your farewell pics! 
Track - the gr 8 students that want to qualify for long or triple jump will be going to Coloniale block 5 today, quickly check in with your teachers and then meet in the gym. Please check the list on the bulletin board.
Discus tryouts will continue today at lunch for the junior girls, please meet in the gym at 12:26. There will also be throwing practice for shot and javelin for those that have qualified.
1500m qualifying has been moved to Wednesday.

A massive congratulations goes out to our badminton teams for winning all three LDAA banners for a 12th straight season!  Out of 15 categories, the Sabres won 11 gold and 3 silver medals.   Your hard work and dedication all season long really paid off.   An extra shout out goes to the doubles teams Kira Fiveland/Avery Terpsma and Shane Ball/Josh Simon for their big comeback wins, Edi Li for his season long dominance and Ty Sauer for playing possibly the best gold medal match in JE Lapointe badminton history.   We will take a team picture on Monday with all badminton team members, so please bring your jersey.

Mrs. Baron keeps forgetting to congratulate the Grade 7, 8 & 9 band members for their great performance at the Leduc Music festival last week. Both concert and jazz band received GOLD. Congrats also to Miss Metz for her very first conducting experience. You did a great job!

Student vote results are in: 1,229 schools participating in the election. In the Student Vote results, the UCP won a majority government with 49 seats. The NDP forms the official opposition with 35 seats. The Alberta Party won 3 seats.

Thanks to everyone who voted yesterday. Thank you to the many volunteers who helped run the student election. Our school voted in Bard Rutherford of the UCP (132 votes). Shaye Anderson of the NDP came in second, with 98 votes, and Robb Connelly of the Alberta Party came in 3rd with 48 votes. Stay tuned for later this week when the Student Alberta vote results come in.

Also, since Mr. Slade only has 12 grade nine farewell pics at this point, he is offering some incentive.  First, the first class to entirely submit pics will win ice cream sandwiches.  Second, the class with the highest percentage of pictures recreated will win ice cream sandwiches.  Yes, one single class could win both challenges and receive both boxes of ice cream sandwiches.  Right now, Mr. Slade’s and M Morin’s classes are tied with the most submissions.

Speaking of pizza...junior girls, you have exactly 0 practice jerseys and 0 game jerseys returned to Mr. Slade.  Looks like the dream of pizza for Ava is over.

Miss Jensen’s term 2 drama kids have a rehearsal today at lunch.  Please meet in her new classroom (room 116) right at the beginning of lunch.  Bring your lunches and any props you may need.

Attention all of Mrs. Nessel’s term 2 home ec and art classes - If you were intending on handing in any art assignments or textiles projects please do so RIGHT AFTER THE ANNOUNCEMENTS. After today any missing assignments will not be accepted.

it is Pi Day!  Rejoice!  Today is the day to love math more than ever before.
Winners of today’s Pi competition get a pizza Pi on Tuesday, but the real winners are all of you for being touched by Pi.

Student Gathering - grade 9

One-act drama performances are at 7 PM tonight.

Congratulations to the Jr Boys on an amazing season. The boys finished with a silver metal last night after losing to Father Leduc in a tough game. The boys played awesome and had an incredible season. Thanks for all your hard work this season boys!

Down by 4 points with 2:17 left in the game, the junior girls basketball team forced overtime with a ferocious barrage of steals and hoops.  Then in the overtime, the girls went on to crush their opponents and take the bronze medal with a dazzling display of intensity, focus, and never-give-up!  Congrats girls on an amazing win, making your family, coach, and school proud!  Please meet in Mr. Slade’s room at 12:45 for a quick meeting.

Also - great job to all basketball players and coaches on one of the most successful seasons in JE history.  2 golds, 1 silver and 1 bronze.
