Student Gathering - 8DE

Junior badminton players who are playing at the open house tomorrow need to meet in the gym today at 12:45.  We will be choosing doubles teams.

Badminton pictures have been moved to TOMORROW AT LUNCH!  They will definitely take place TOMORROW AT LUNCH.  Bring your jersey for the picture that is taking place

Attention all PE students!  You will be doing phys. ed at the arena today.  You need to walk to the rink in your OUTDOOR SHOES, and then change to your INDOOR SHOES when you get there. 

Grade 8s: this Thursday is Outsider dress-up day! Come to school as a Soc or Greaser!

Hats on for Mental Health Day is tomorrow - wear your hat to school to support mental health . There will also be a photo booth in the student lounge at lunch. Come out and take some pictures with your friends!

Friday is school spirit day!  Come to school dressed in your JE Lapointe gear or school colours. 
Come cheer on the staff as we defeat the students at a dodgeball game at lunch.

Attention students helping Mrs. Nessel during open house. Please be in the Home ec room by 4:45 pm on Wed. so that we can get started. The open house is from 5:30 - 7:pm.

We are looking for some  kids to be tour guides Wed Night for our new student open house.  If you are interested, please meet in Mrs Gervais’ sci lab at 12:26 for a quick meeting.  The students that have signed up for GSA and Me to We please attend at 12:26 as well.

Reminder that there is no FLEX sign up today as next week is early dismissal next Wednesday.

Grade Nine Lip Dubbers - we need to collect info on one more form.  Please visit the Flex Google Classroom Page and indicate who you will be surely grouping with during the Lip Dub.

Student Gathering - grade 9

A massive congratulations goes out to our badminton teams for winning all three LDAA banners for a 12th straight season!  Out of 15 categories, the Sabres won 11 gold and 3 silver medals.   Your hard work and dedication all season long really paid off.   An extra shout out goes to the doubles teams Kira Fiveland/Avery Terpsma and Shane Ball/Josh Simon for their big comeback wins, Edi Li for his season long dominance and Ty Sauer for playing possibly the best gold medal match in JE Lapointe badminton history.   We will take a team picture on Monday with all badminton team members, so please bring your jersey.

GSA is cancelled today but you are most welcomed to drop by for lunch tomorrow in the Science lab.

Classy Threads orders are due today. Please see Mrs. Nessel if you forgot your form, but wanted to order.

Any Grade 7, 8 or 9 band students interested in helping Mrs. Baron during the Open House next Wednesday should let her know ASAP.

Student Gathering - Grade 7DEF

There is a very important badminton meeting at 12:26pm today!  Good luck at the LDAA “North” finals today!

Mrs. Baron keeps forgetting to congratulate the Grade 7, 8 & 9 band members for their great performance at the Leduc Music festival last week. Both concert and jazz band received GOLD. Congrats also to Miss Metz for her very first conducting experience. You did a great job!

Student vote results are in: 1,229 schools participating in the election. In the Student Vote results, the UCP won a majority government with 49 seats. The NDP forms the official opposition with 35 seats. The Alberta Party won 3 seats.

Grade nines - today is the last day to vote for your favourite lip dub songs.  As well, please get your farewell pics into Mr. Slade ASAP.

Last chance to enter your guess for the Easter Eggstravanza come to office with 25 cents and enter for a chance to win the jelly beans

Thanks to everyone who voted yesterday. Thank you to the many volunteers who helped run the student election. Our school voted in Bard Rutherford of the UCP (132 votes). Shaye Anderson of the NDP came in second, with 98 votes, and Robb Connelly of the Alberta Party came in 3rd with 48 votes. Stay tuned for later this week when the Student Alberta vote results come in.

Reminder Wednesday is Day 5 thus no FLEX on Wednesday

Grade nines - you still have time to get your farewell pics into Mr. Slade.  Also, if you have any group shots when you were young, send those in, as well.

Only 3 days left in the Easter Eggstravaganza. Pop by the office with 25 cents and guess the number of jelly beans in the jar in support of CASA House. Draw date is this Thursday.

2018-2019 Yearbooks are now for sale in Powerschool for $25.00 each. Will be delivered in the fall.
We still have a few 2017-2018 yearbooks for sale in the office. Special deal $20.00 each.

Grade nines - Mr. Slade received more than a dozen sets of pictures this weekend!  Thank you!  If you have not submitted your farewell pics, please do so ASAP! 

Also for grade nine students, please check out the Lip Dub survey on the Flex Google Classroom page and select your favourite two songs for Dub Day on May 15.

Student vote takes place today! It will be in the student gathering area. You will join your homeroom at some point today and vote. Teachers please see the schedule shared with you so you know when to take your classes.

Very important badminton meeting for all students playing in Sherwood park on Saturday.  Please meet in the gym at 12:26pm.

Badminton practice is group #2 at lunch and any other team members that want to play.

The lip dub committee has heard your concerns and is offering you input into the song choices this year.  You will need to go to the new survey on in the Flex Google Classroom and select your two favorite songs that are listed.  Your voices will be heard until next Wednesday when we collect results.

May 15 is Dub Day so get your costumes and props ready.

Student Gathering - Grade 9

Reminder Tomorrow is a Day 5

Grade nine students.  If you are interested in being the representative speaker for the English or French classes at the grade nine farewell, please meet in Mr. Slade’s room tomorrow at 12:45.

Also, since Mr. Slade only has 12 grade nine farewell pics at this point, he is offering some incentive.  First, the first class to entirely submit pics will win ice cream sandwiches.  Second, the class with the highest percentage of pictures recreated will win ice cream sandwiches.  Yes, one single class could win both challenges and receive both boxes of ice cream sandwiches.  Right now, Mr. Slade’s and M Morin’s classes are tied with the most submissions. 

Mr. Slade’s Coding and Digital Citizenship class - Mr. Slade has three permission forms returned.  Please get yours in ASAP.

Wellness Wednesday starts today during lunch in the Science lab. Bring your lunch and join Miss Michelle for a midweek break.

Students joining Ms Gervais for block 4 today, please bring a pen to class.

Parents are kindly asked to check Powerschool for any outstanding fees.

Gr 9 ESBCHS Computer Registration tomorrow morning. Students must have their parent signed course planner to register.

We are starting a homework club. It will start today and runs Monday-Thursdays from 3:15-4:15. If you need a place to get homework done, come hang out and work! See the purple schedules in your classrooms for details on location.

A reminder that the Grade 7, 8 & 9 band is having a combined festival practice this morning during period 2. Grade 7 & 8 students are to meet in the band room at the start of period 2 to join the Grade 9’s that will be there already.

This Thursday morning is our concert band and jazz band festival performances. Band members are reminded to get their parents to sign the online permission form. This form must be completed for you to attend and Mrs. Baron needs ALL of you to go!

Jazz band practice tomorrow at 12:26. This is our final festival practice so everyone MUST attend!
