Wednesday, May 2, 2012 - Day 5

  • The answer to yesterday’s question:  Who is the famous French hockey player that played 17 years for the Pittsburgh Penguins and won 2 Stanley Cups in 1991 and 1992? Is Mario Lemieux.

  • The boys floor hockey teams for the May 11th tournament are now up!  Please go see which team you are on and when your noon hour exhibition games are.  Girls teams will be posted tomorrow.

  • The talent show is going to be happening during the afternoon of June 6th this year. Anyone interested in auditioning for the show is asked to see Mrs. Baron to sign up. Auditions are going to be taking place May 22, 23 & 24 during the lunch hour, so start planning your act today!

  • Band members going to OTTAWA are reminded of their lunch hour practice next Tuesday at lunch. Practice will begin at 12:20, so please make sure you have eaten your lunch and set up your instrument by then. 
     

  • Elementary Track Boys’ Ball Throw try-outs today at noon.  Please meet at the baseball diamond.  All students, please be aware that there will be ball throw tryouts at the baseball diamond at lunch, therefore the ball diamond is off limits. 

    • Science Fair is tomorrow.  Be sure to bring your projects tomorrow.

    • Early Dismissal today at 2:30 pm.

    • Congratulations to the three Lapointe players who participated at the Alberta Chess Challenge in Red Deer on April 21.

    • Guitar club tomorrow after school.

  • Elementary track practice today at noon.  Please meet in the gym.

Monday, April 30, 2012 - Day 3

  • A huge congratulations goes out to the Badminton team for winning both the Jr. and Int. banners at the LDAA finals this past Saturday.   The Jr. team won 3 gold and 2 silver medals, while the Int. team won 3 gold and 2 bronze medals.  Mr. Mistol and Ms. Stewart would like to thank all team members for their hard work and dedication this season!
    Also – Please bring your shirts on Tuesday for a team picture.

  • Band members going to OTTAWA are reminded of their lunch hour practices this week on Tuesday and Thursday at lunch. Practice will begin at 12:20, so please make sure you have eaten your lunch and set up your instrument by then. 

  • All band members in grade 6, 7, & 8  are reminded to hand in their April theory and practice completed and signed as they are both due today.

  • Congratulations to the students who performed at the Sweet Night of Music last Friday night. It was a great concert and you helped raise $950.00 for the junior high band trip.

  • Today kicks off la semaine de la Francophonie. Each day we will be asking a question related to “la Francophonie”, just like we did for the Geography Challenge.  Let’s see if you can answer the first question.  The answer will be given tomorrow during announcements.  Quelles sont les trois villes en Alberta qui sont officiellement bilingues?  What three municipalities in Alberta are officially bilingual?

  • All band members in grade 6, 7, & 8  are reminded to please get their April theory and practice completed and signed as they are both due on Monday

  • Band members going to OTTAWA are reminded of their lunch hour practice TODAY, as well as next Tuesday and Thursday at lunch. Practice will begin at 12:20, so please make sure you have eaten your lunch and set up your instrument by then.

  •  The band students who are helping set up for the SWEET NIGHT OF MUSIC concert happening tonight are asked to meet Mrs. Baron in the music room right after school.

  • Anyone who would like to come to the Sweet Night of Music concert is invited! Admission is $5 which will include great performances by our very own band members, as well as delicious desserts and drinks.

    • The Home Ec room is now closed for students to come in and finish Module 3 projects. Students who need to open their tie dyed onsies can come in at noon today . Thanks to all who did come.
    •  Girls 7C and 7D PE. Please meet in room 103 for period 2 today.
      • Good luck to all badminton players this Saturday!  A reminder that you must be in Wetaskiwin for 9:30am.
      •  Today is Milk “Friday”  Milk Monday from this week was changed to today.

      • The final badminton practice of the year is today after school.

      • Tomorrow will be the final day that Mr. Mistol will accept floor hockey registrations for the tournament on May 11th.

      • The jazz band, along with anyone performing at the SWEET NIGHT OF MUSIC tomorrow night is asked to see Mrs. Baron very briefly at the 10:30 recess break TODAY. She would like to get a final confirmation of who is going to be playing.

      • Due to the overwhelming response today will be the last day donations will be accepted for the Ghana Project Abroad charity.  If you have other donations that you have not yet brought in we recommend that you find a worthy local charity to support.  Brianna wanted to send a heartfelt thank you to everyone that donated.  She was very impressed with the great response!  We will be taking a group picture in rm 103 on Thursday at 12:30 of all of the students who were able to donate.  Please attend.

      • All badminton team players are encouraged to come out and play tonight from 6:30-8pm during the open house.

      • There will be a lunchtime meeting at noon for ALL band members going to Ottawa. Please come to the music room at 12 noon and bring your lunch!!

      • Parent/Student orientation Open House tonight from 6:30-8:00 pm.

      • Found - Bicycle helmet and headphones, please come to the office to claim.

      • A reminder for all Elementary students to get their floor hockey permission slips and money to Mr. Mistol ASAP.   Also, to clarify….there will NOT be any try-outs.  If you bring in your form, you will be put on a team.

      • Congratulations to all of the badminton players that competed in the LDAA North playdowns this past Saturday.  J.E. Lapointe did extremely well as everyone in the Jr. and Int. categories finished 1st or 2nd and will be moving on to the association finals this Saturday in Wetaskiwin.
      • Attention all elementary boys and girls!!!  If you are interested in playing in this year’s floor hockey tournament, there is a very important meeting/sign up in the gym today at noon.
      • The Home Ec. room will be open after school this week for sewing and just a reminder that this will be the last week.

      • Donations for Projects Abroad will be accepted until Friday, April 27th. Items such as: dice, glitter, pencils, pencil crayons, erasers, rulers, paintbrushes, colored paper, storybooks and sports equipment(cleats, soccer balls, jerseys).
      • Outdoor Ed. cookout is today during periods 4 & 5.
